Thinker cell in the room-in-room principle as a self-sufficient room element

Acoustic room concept with thinker cells

The new BASF office building on Pfalzgrafenstrasse in Ludwigshafen has been occupied. 1,500 modern workplaces have been created on a building area of around 38,000 square meters. Modern office equipment, bright rooms, as well as green and accessible courtyards ensure an attractive working environment. After the official groundbreaking ceremony in June 2013, the building was handed over to its users, BASF employees from Information Services and Supply Chain Operations, on November 7, 2014.

Acoustic concept for effective collaboration...

The building's modern and open space concept enables uncomplicated, flexible and effective collaboration. It optimizes communication and thus meets the needs of employees.

To ensure that, despite all the openness, the acoustics in the workplace are not neglected, BASF has had extensive calculations carried out. Based on these room acoustic models, woodtec delivered the optimizing trades, consisting of around 2,500 highly effective ceiling absorbers (baffles) and around 900 high-performance absorbers for the walls.

The building also offers retreat areas, so-called thinker cells, for employees in all office areas. These can be used for short meetings in the immediate vicinity of the workplace in a concentrated, undisturbed manner and without disrupting colleagues.

The building and the parking garage opposite were planned and constructed by the engineering and service group Bilfinger.
