We call an “acousic office” an office room form derived from open space. The much-criticized weak point of open space, the poor acoustics, is eliminated by highly effective acoustic installations. All the advantages of open space are retained.
Open office zones promote easy and quick communication between colleagues. At the same time, they offer optimal use of the available office space. Unlike most open office space forms, in the acoustic office the APs are structured with effective acoustic shields. This does not create closed rooms, but rather wall screens that are transparent, but also highly sound-absorbing and sound-insulating. The teams are visually connected and yet acoustically optimally separated. The high-performance absorbers have a significant influence on the acoustic properties of the office space. Here we come back to an ongoing trend in building technology. Modern buildings are increasingly component-activated. This is exactly what makes the installation of the tried and tested acoustic ceiling impossible and forces the planner to look for alternatives.
Use open spaces in the middle for self-sufficient rooms
Open spaces are usually created in the middle, which are ideal for depicting functional areas. Flexible space-in-space constructions make self-sufficient spaces possible, even if the building structure is not designed for this purpose. Similar to the smart office variant, thinkers' booths, telephone booths, multimedia rooms, meeting boxes or simply technology rooms are created here. The area along the facade remains free for workplaces.
